A Talk about Honey Bees & their Mysteries. Dimitris Mavronas has been working with honey bees for many years and together with his wife Katerina they produce from the abundance of nature.

The Orchard is a fledgling permaculture project located in Platonas, north Corfu. Our aim is to create a polyculture system, better known as “Food Forest”. In the property there are already well established trees, mainly Olives and Figs. We plan to diversify and intensify the life above and below the soil in order to establish a self-fertilising and regenerative system. We are in the initial stages of supporting soil fertility and biodiversity, mainly perennial plants.

Maria Fanarioti, massage and alternative therapist, will give the gift of Reiki to visitors. She will offer five-minute therapies on the fifth chakra, called the ‘Vishuddha Chakra’ (the throat chakra), our centre of communication.

Jess Grant, experienced yoga instructor and wellness practitioner, will give us some grounding practices to combat the ‘overwhelm’ we face in everyday life.

Two Sessions: 30 minutes each

We will walk together in the “wild” gardens of Corfu to meet plants that have been traditionally used for food, healing or other purposes and plants used in modern herbal medicine.

ORCHID TALK AND DISPLAY:

International orchid expert, Rob Allen will have a display of orchids that he has bred. He will be available throughout the day to discuss his plants and answer your questions.

His will be at Villa Ypatia in Kommeno

The volunteers from the Liapades Recycling Centre will host a bazaar of brand new summer clothing and accessories at the opening of the Liapades School Community Garden. All proceeds raised will be given to good causes and reinvested into the Liapades School Community Garden.

The Liapades School Garden has been developed within the school grounds, transforming an area of unused wasteland into a beautiful community garden.

Giannis Gasteratos will give a talk about the variety of birdlife in Corfu and give some tips about wildlife photography

My name is Eleni and I am an herbalist, living and working on the island for more than twenty years. We will walk together in the “wild” gardens of Corfu to meet plants that have been traditionally used for food, healing or other purposes and plants used in modern herbal medicine. The route is quite easy but be prepared to stop quite often to speak about the plants along the way.

Introduction into mosaic making, different styles, methods and materials. Make your own small mosaic from different materials.

Hilary is the founder of the Corfu Trail. She will lead the group on a beautiful walk from Sokraki.

During this visit to the isolated mountain village of Sokraki, we shall explore the alleyways of this working settlement with its very fine views.

Monoprinting on a gel plate is a fascinating technique to create layered artworks with acrylic colours. We will use stencils, stamps and materials from nature such as leaves, blossoms...to create special artworks. You can take the often surprising results as artworks themselves or use them in collages or for cards.

Before moving to Corfu in 2023, Susan was an artist in Canada. Her love of the natural world is interpreted in an impressionistic, colourful style using acrylics on canvas.

Our garden is very much a work in progress; most of the plants and cuttings have been in less than a year. Demolished stone from the interior of the house has been repurposed into olive rounds and the old stair railings into an exterior guard rail. You are welcome to wander around and see what we have done.

Choose among a wide variety of plant based aromatic and essential oils to design your customised scent and create your own aromatic tablet. In a space of 400 square meter, once an old wood workshop, which still house the original and rusty machines and creates a tangible memory connection.

Theotoky Estate is one of the oldest wineries in Greece and has been in our family for 5 generations.

Our guests will have a guided tour to the olive trees, to the bottling area, the bottle cellar and try one of our white wines and olive oil with bread. This is free of charge .

Olive oil tasting and farm tour at Dr Kavvadia who was an orthopaedic surgeon who lived on the island of Corfu many years ago. The Doctor's greatest passion was producing olive oil from his centenarian olive grove, a very special grove, from a local variety called “Lianelia”.

Joyful and light-hearted, we are going to explore possibilities to create rich floral paintings. We will start with a background based on acrylic colours, later using various techniques and materials following our intuition and inspiration to create blossoms, leaves and more.

No experience needed, everybody is welcome.

The Capodistrias Museum will offer as part of our participation to the Garden Festival two talks on Sunday April 21 on the Museum Garden and the history/use/characteristics of its estate, in Greek and English. The museum will be open and you will be able to walk around the beautiful grounds of the museum.
