Frankie Cranfield: Hitch-hiking back to England over 40 years ago, I fell in love with Corfu, and that love affair continues today.

Corfu has a magnificent landscape with a glorious mixture of cypress and olive trees tumbling into the sea, and a rich history which has created a fascinating, diverse architecture combined with the lush vegetation, it is like no other Greek island. I love the fluidity and multilayered effect created by watercolours, which suit the character of the old Venetian buildings.

These dominate Corfu Town and villages all around the island and display a huge variety of original architectural details from the bolts on the old doors, to the painted feta tins crammed with basil.

The challenge that watercolours presents in trying to create these images, the topics are never ending, and fascinating.

Susie Fox: I first started painting in 2008 after being medically retired from

My husband and I retired to Corfu in 2018 and live in a beautiful village in the central region of the island. My love affair with the island started with a holiday in 1984, I met my husband here and we got married in 1987 here in Corfu. We lived here until 89 and always vowed to return when we retired. Dreams do come true!

Painting here in Corfu is also a dream, inspiration round every corner whether it’s the old buildings, the many lovely doors and windows or the inspirational flowers and trees. I love the different seasons that bring different flowers that swathe the island. You could paint every day and never ever be bored!

Maria Smyth: Having worked in Corfu for a number of years, I was drawn back here on retirement and joined a walking group which allowed me to explore some of the trails which are to be found throughout the island.  This opened up a wealth of beautiful natural landscapes which were previously unknown to me.  Springtime is particularly beautiful with spring flowers  showing their heads and trees putting out new leaves in so many different shades of green.
