Kouloura Estate
Kouloura
Kouloura Estate, located on Corfu's northeast coast, is a historic property renowned for its stunning architecture and expansive gardens. Originally built as a fortress by the Venetian Quartano family in the 15th century, the estate features whitewashed walls and defensive towers that overlook the lonian Sea.
The gardens of Kouloura Estate have evolved over centuries. Initially a steep hillside adorned with cypress trees, the landscape was transformed into a series of narrow terraces connected by stone staircases under the guidance of landscape designer Dominic Bernier. In 2020, Australian landscape architect Paul Bangay reimagined the gardens, enhancing their beauty and integrating sustainable practices.
Please Note:
The garden is on different levels with steps which may be unsuitable for people with walking difficulties
