Rou

The garden was designed by Jennifer Gay in 2012.
I wanted the garden to blend into the landscape surrounding it. Wild hill goats were the biggest problem as I wanted to keep the garden unfenced, but year after year they rampaged the garden destroying so many plants and trees. The goats have now gone to the mainland. The garden is fenced and in recovery.

As there is no water up at Rou, and we rely solely on water delivery. I wanted to have a dry garden that could withstand very little water ( 20 days for the garden, and every 7 days for the trees and shallow beds).

DIRECTIONS: Drive to Porta. Then drive through Porta and round an S bend. Soon after there is a small turning on the left to Rou. Drive approx 3 kilometres and you will come to a fork. Park the car here tucked in, and walk up the hill. Turn right at the top and walk up to the last house. I will keep a parking space for anyone elderly. 

Be aware that Google maps may take you on a rough gravel road, we advise against this route.

PARKING: There is no parking at the house or The Rou Estate EXCEPT for the elderly or disabled. Please be aware that the rental season has begun and the only parking will be at the bottom of the hill before the Rou Estate. Please tuck their cars in so that other cars can pass.
