The Capodistrias Museum in Corfu is a house-museum dedicated to the life and legacy of the 1st Governor of modern Greece, the Corfiot born Ioannis Count Capodistrias (1776-1831). The museum is situated in the picturesque Capodistrias family country estate of Koukouritsa - a listed national monument – where Capodistrias spent part of its youth. In the local dialect, Koukouritsa means ‘a rise’ or ‘a conspicuous peak’ and Koukouritsa estate dominates the top of a hill a few kilometres north of the town of Corfu, in the village of Evroupouli.

The Capodistrias family owned Koukouritsa at least from the early 18th century until 1980.

THE TALKS:

The Capodistrias Museum will offer as part of our participation to the Garden Festival two talks on Sunday April 21 on the Museum Garden and the history/use/characteristics of its estate, in Greek and English.

The Museum is currently is developing a master plan for the protection and management of its historic garden, with the support of the association ‘Friends of the Capodistrias Museum’. As part of this process a signposted walk has been developed throughout the gardens of the museum. There are 16 points of interest along the way, they include stories of the past land use of the estate, specific trees and views

DIRECTIONS: The Museum is just 7 km away from Corfu Town, near the village “Evropouli”.
BY CAR: From the Palaiokastritsa National Road, turn off at Hospital or Potamos (depending on your direction) and then follow the signs for Evropouli/Capodistrias Museum.
The entrance to the museum is on the road.

BY BUS: Urban line Νο 4, ‘Koukouritsa’ stop (departure from Sarokο Square)
