The Capodistrias Museum in Corfu is a house-museum dedicated to the life and legacy of the 1st Governor of modern Greece, the Corfiot born Ioannis Count Capodistrias (1776-1831). The museum is situated in the picturesque Capodistrias family country estate of Koukouritsa - a listed national monument – where Capodistrias spent part of its youth. In the local dialect, Koukouritsa means ‘a rise’ or ‘a conspicuous peak’ and Koukouritsa estate dominates the top of a hill a few kilometres north of the town of Corfu, in the village of Evroupouli.

The Capodistrias family owned Koukouritsa at least from the early 18th century until 1980.

The Museum is currently is developing a master plan for the protection and management of its historic garden, with the support of the association ‘Friends of the Capodistrias Museum’. As part of this process a signposted walk has been developed throughout the gardens of the museum. There are 16 points of interest along the way, they include stories of the past land use of the estate, specific trees and views.

Visitors will be able to explore the garden independently through a complimentary self-guided tour, accessible via mobile phone using QR codes available on site. This provides information about the garden, its history, and its plant life.

Closed: Monday & public holidays

DIRECTIONS:
Once you pass the main entrance of the Capodistrias Museum - Center for Capodistrian Studies, you'll find plenty of parking spaces available on both the left and right sides. After parking, continue walking uphill, and you'll reach your destination. The Museum offers a few parking spaces uphill, near the building, specifically for people with disabilities and pregnant women.
