Ellen’s Garden

Danillia

When I took on this garden ten years ago it was just a field on a steep slope which was quite a challenge. I began by planting in areas around the house using cuttings and plants given to me by friends and neighbours. At that time I knew nothing about mediterranean gardening and it has been a steep learning curve. Over time I have added some terraced areas and planted more olive and fruit trees. There is a vegetable garden and flower beds but I prefer a natural look in my garden and some of the land is left to the wild flowers and plants. There is always something beautiful and interesting to appreciate in the garden - flowers, grasses, berries, cyclamen, tiny colchicums and much else. The garden is a constant source of happiness and inspiration to me.
